1979-1980 PAF Base Samungli, Quetta: (Age 0-1)
Well I was born in 1979 at CMH Quetta on 17th March. It was very cold and snowy. I was taken great care of. :) My parents especially papa was very delighted. I was obviously very small and have absolutely no memory of then.
1981-1982 PAF Base Masroor: (Age 2-3)
As father got posted to PAF Base Masroor, we came to Karachi. He got on-the-job training of ATC (Air Traffic Controlling). By this time I had started to walk and socialize :) I remember that I often used to go on a stroll to the nearby Officers Mess where I used to have a bath in the park with the lawn water-pipe :) I also had a red-colored tri-cycle which I rode with great excitement. I also remember very clearly that I used to go to the main door of our house on all-four-feet as I used to hear father return from duty, hoping that he would lift me up in his arms. He always did. :)
1982-83 PAF Base Risalpur: (Age 3-4)
After serving for one year at Masroor, father got posted to PAF Base Risalpur, which happens to be the PAF Academy. Here cadets get their respective trainings for flying or engineering branches. Risalpur is a very lively base with hundreds of cadets and officers around. As it is the main training base of the PAF there is always a lot of flying going on. I used to hear trainer aircraft's engine start and then taking off literally everyday. No matter day or night there was very little time when there was no flying. Due to such heavy flying father had a very busy schedule. It is here in PAF Risalpur that I first went to see papa's work-place: the Control Tower. I was a bit too young at that time to understand what papa's job really was but I did know for sure that he talked to aircraft and I was fascinated by it :) I have a photo of that day with me in which I am playing with papa's airfield-intercom and radio-transmitter.
1983-84 PAF Base Badaber: (Age 4-5)
In 1983 we shifted to Peshawar at PAF Base Badaber. It was a greener and cooler place compared to the barren and hot Risalpur. Here is where I got to see the face of any school. I was admitted to class I in PAF Model School which was at a 5-minute walking distance. The school was good and so was I :) I topped in the whole class I (all sections) and was rewarded with a 'certificate of merit' and prize-bonds worth Rs.25. I had not expected all this. I still don't know how I topped. Guess my parents worked really hard with me. I enjoyed my time here. Used to play out very late in the evening with friends and often my and friends' parents came looking for us.
